Today Jon Favreau has been quoted from a recent AVENGERS discussion, included in his comments are the desired lineup for the 2011 movie!
"What if I told you we were putting together a team?" Words I've longed to hear from a comic book movie since, like, forever!
For those words were uttered by none other than TONY STARK (Iron Man) at the end of THE INCREDIBLE HULK. They signal the beginning in a new era for comic book movies, an era with crossovers, universe lore, and all the cool s*it that comes with it!
As for the recent rumours of a financial dispute between Favreau and Marvel - at this point, who the hell knows? The sources that told us Fav was being stiffed were all very reliable, so whether it ever occurred, or whether Marvel have simply back peddled on their decision will be left up to the imagination I fear.
Anyhow, back to business...
Iron Man director Jon Favreau, who is (rumoured to be) developing a sequel to be released in April 2010, says Marvel's plan is "to team up the heroes for The Avengers, which is made up of all of the Marvel heroes they have the rights to."
So lets pretend for a moment that you don't know what he's talking about - "which heroes DO Marvel still hold the rights to Fav?"
After selling most of their catalogue off, not many lets face it. But that said, they STILL some of the finest to hit cinema screens this year - with a few more on the way!
Favreau says the team's lineup has changed throughout the years, "but the ones Marvel is talking about now are Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Iron Man. I would love to see that."
So would I Fav, here's hoping you're around to direct it.
