As many as TEN MILLION viewers are expected to tune in to tonight's season finale of the fourth series of DOCTOR WHO - primarily to answer one question, and one question only - what does fate have in store for David Tennant's DOCTOR?

Last week's thrilling cliffhanger saw the Doctor shot by a Dalek death ray, and the episode finished with the Doctor apparently beginning to regenerate.

Since last week's episode, speculation has been rife over the fate of the character, taking into account what fans already know about the future of the show, including the 'fact' that David Tennant is set to appear in next years feature length episodes.

Some have speculated that the news on his involvement in the aforementioned episodes could be nothing more than a red herring, designed to throw people off the scent and keep vital facts about this weeks finale a secret.

And what a secret! The press are currently under an embargo, with preview tapes and spoilers NOT being released for the upcoming climax ensuring that fans are kept guessing right up until the episode airs tonight.

The most obvious outcome, and one which I'm hoping for, is the introduction of a new Doctor who will lead us into next years adventures. Original Sharp Says has already speculated on the possible 11th Doctor in my article last Saturday which you can find HERE.

As well as the 'new Doctor' theories, others have ranged from quite plausible to completely outrageous, like the idea that the entire fourth series will somehow be revealed to be 'not real' and in fact just an alternate universe.

Either way, the slow-starting fourth series has certainly proved itself to be a complete success. After the so-so third series, my confidence in the franchise was beginning to wain, a claim that I can no longer make after becoming a fully 'regenerated' WHOvian once again!
